Does praying the rosary have a wonderful effect?

It gave something to do in jail besides ociating with gangs. While meditating deeply on the meaning of the rosary and the life of Jesus and Mary i was able to focus Christ and not the world around me. I used to get up early to do that when there was less noise to distract me and in some ways it was almost like escaping. Other times it was easy to see that i was not the most mistreated prisoner ever but Jesus was. With that and other things i learned that i was not hopeless and lost. The first man to enter Heaven with Jesus was a death row prisoner that was crucified next to Him.
