Why can't I hear my contact on Windows Live?

My contact can hear me, but I cannot hear them. I see there microphone is working because its levels are going up and down. My speakers are not messed up, and my microphone is perfect. I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 5.1 Sound card. What do I have to do to fix this problem?
