What kind of motorcycle helmet should I buy?

I am looking for a retro type helmet for a cafe racer type bike. I really want more protection than a half helmet or skid lid will offer, but I really don't want the look of a full faced helmet. I went and tried on a Fulmer V2 open faced helmet today and it seemed to be what I might be looking for. Is this brand any good? I would consider any retro looking full faced helmets but I have yet to see any.
